  • A. SUMMER TRAINING (INTERNSHIP)

SUMMER TRAINING is an integral part of the curriculum and forms a vital aspect of overall development of the management students. It allows the students to experience and learn the corporate culture, first hand. At the same time, the corporate world gets fair idea about the talent of the emerging generation of future managers of BULMIM. Towards the end of the first year of PGDM full time programme, the students are required to undergo training of duration of 8-10 weeks within an organisation.

The specific objectives are as follows:

    • To provide an exposure to the students on real life organisational problems and to provide an opportunity to work on them intensively.
    • To enable the students to understand the organisation structure and processes in the practical setting.
    • To provide an opportunity to the students to analyse real life problems and apply the concepts and theory learnt in the class room.

The Summer Training also acts as a mechanism to help students to crystallize their career choices as they explore themselves in their project work.

As the duration of Summer Training is eight to ten weeks, it gives ample opportunity to the sponsoring organization to have a closer assessment of the students for final placement purposes. Our strong alumni are already working with leading Indian and multinational companies are always there for help.

After completing the project work, the trainees are required to submit a written report to the organisation as well as to the institute. Students are required to make a presentation to a group of faculty members and other students at the Institute.

The evaluation process of the summer training projects involve professionals from the industry and the institute. A panel comprising Experts from the industry & faculty from the institute evaluates the student’s performances. Our Corporate Resource Cell (CRC) effectively coordinates with various corporate houses.

    Role of Sponsoring Organisations

THE learning and the contribution of the students to the project depends on continuous supervision and interaction with the executives of the organisation. The organisations are requested to allot project guides for each student.

The organizations are required to send the evaluation of the project work done by the students to the Placement Co-ordinator after the completion of the project work. This is an extremely important exercise and organisations are requested to give adequate weightage to this exercise.

    Selection of Summer Trainees

THE organisations may send their request for selection of the students for Summer Training in their organisation in the prescribed Proforma attached to the brochure and ask our placement cell to forward the detailed Curriculum Vitae (CVs) of the shortlisted students.

Our Placement cell will coordinate the complete selection process as per the suitability of the organisation. The selection of the candidates is based on the procedure followed by the sponsoring organization.

    Faculty Guidance

EVERY summer trainee is assigned an internal project guide from the faculty. The faculty not just guides but also visits the organization, when the students are on their project work. Their sole purpose is to help the students to successfully carry out the project work and to strengthen the professional ties between the Institute and the industry.

    Nature of Assignments

THE projects assigned to the students could be regarding any area of management and in line with the requirements of the organisations:

    1. A problem or problems which your organization has decided to have a fresh look.
    2. A study of strategic plans of the organization with requisite analysis and interpretations.
    3. Specific functional problems which require research effort (for example, assessment of demand potential for a new product).

To achieve the objectives of Project Placement, the sponsoring organizations are requested to provide opportunities to the students to get greater exposure to the entire working of organizations.

Projects which involve interdisciplinary approaches may be designed to help accomplish the task.
